Every year the department offers an award in the memory of Dr. Marina Bizzarri-Schmid, one of our former trainees and faculty.  Recipients  embody the concept of “compassionate care” from our staff—all clinicians (staff, fellows, residents, CRNAs, SRNAs) are eligible for consideration. 

“Those who knew her described Marina as demanding, quirky, meticulous, yet could make a resident feel like they were God’s gift to the practice of medicine.  Her patients woke up from anesthesia into a cocoon of warmth and love and felt like they were the only patient on the planet at that moment.”
