The Clinical Practice Committee for Anesthesia ensures all quality and safety practices are evidence-based and align with best practices. It integrates new technology to enhance patient safety and creates optimized, efficient workspaces for anesthesiologists, aiming to do so cost-effectively while maintaining high standards. The committee is committed to reducing environmental impact in the OR. It is also responsible for overseeing pharmacy practices to ensure safety, efficiency, and optimal medication management.

The Faculty Development Committee meets approximately every other month to discuss candidates for promotion, grants, and awards, and has several goals: (1) To make recommendations to the Chair about candidates’ readiness for promotion in academic rank, or initial appointments of new incoming faculty (2)To assist with vital feedback to candidates in the preparation of their promotions packages, (3) To provide guidance on mentoring, sponsorship, and networking links for faculty regarding career development/promotion, (4) To oversee Departmental grants/awards not administered through the Research Committee (Shore Foundation Grants, Faculty Development Starter Grants, and (5) To serve as a core selection committee for Departmental awards.

The Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) is the entity within a residency program tasked with assessing and ensuring the clinical competencies of residents or trainees. Key Functions of the CCC include evaluation, feedback, progress tracking, and standard setting within the program. Overall, the CCC plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality of medical training and ensuring that residents are prepared for independent practice upon completion of their training.

The BWH Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine’s DEIB Council is a group of approximately 50 trainees, faculty, anesthesia techs, and administrative staff committed to creating and promoting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive space for all.
